Who invented ice hockey?

Ice hockey is one of the most dear winter sports from around the world, and it is a national obsession in some countries, such as Canada. Popular belief holds that hockey was invented in Montreal, but is that really the case? Word does not exist. The truth is, we really don't know who invented ice hockey or when it actually was invented. We know that is a popular, at least since the 1700s, and come up before this time.

The word "hockey" could come in at least two sources. Many people think, it may be based on the English word ' hoquet ', which means literally "the shepherd's crook" (think hockey stick shape, but it can also come from the Middle Dutch word "hokkie," which means "goal" of the people. We know that, in the 16th century Dutch paintings Show the game, which is similar to playing ice hockey or its relative, the frozen canals so that liberalisation of the settlement and the modern-day Canadian invention.

You can make it to the Brits is the

Field hockey and lacrosse, were popular in Europe and many believe that the British soldiers, armed forces in Canada in the 18th century created a modern ice hockey boredom and long form, the cold Canadian winters. Does not add the paintings, which seems to be playing in this new form, Nova Scotia, and even in Virginia in the United States during the entertainment. So we really do not know who invented ice hockey, who helped refine the only.

The first Indoor game

You can set the argument to the Montreal, which has resulted in the development of the game, but they certainly can boast hosting the very first Indoor Hockey game. March 3, 1875, the first organized Indoor game was played in Montreal, recognised and "Montreal Gazette" official reported. It was not until 1877, however, that any real "rules" were drawn up in the game. Five Canadian students prepared for the first seven of these rules, and so, in the sense, they help to "invent" the modern sport of ice hockey. Their names were James and others., Henry Joseph, w. f. Robertson, Richard f. Smith, and w. l. Murray and the rules of the game when you were only increased in popularity.

Coveted Stanley Cup became Governor General of Canada, currently when Preston Stanley Lord attended the Montreal Winter Carnival in 1888, when the game was showcased. He was so impressed with this new winter game, that he helped to create the best team trophy Championship and in the country, and that the Stanley Cup trophy.

After the game has just grown in popularity and has spread around the world-the first U.s. professional group formed in 1899, and it spreads to Michigan like wildfire. Hockey is so popular because it is a competitive, fast pace and it may not be violent at times, but above all, it takes skill to be able to balance the huge ice skates the thin blades while maneuvering around the tiny puck rink. So we really do not know who invented ice hockey or ice hockey to thank, but without missing the invention we have one of our very favorite winter sports!
